The 25th National Invention Exhibition was Held Successfully In Foshan
On December 10, 2021, the three-day 25th National Invention Exhibition-One Belt One Road & BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition opened in Foshan, attracting more than 2,300 invention and innovation projects to participated in the exhibition. They came from different provinces and cities across the country, including 11 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Delegations from the One Belt One Road and BRICS countries actively participated in the Skills Innovation Competition through video.
This year’s exhibition and skills competition was sponsored by China Association of inventions, BRICS Business Council, Guangdong Science and Technology Department, Guangdong Science and Technology Association, and undertaken by Foshan Municipal People’s Government. With the theme of “invention and innovation, self-reliance and self-strengthening”, the exhibition area was 40,000 square meters, with serveal ares of special national high-tech innovation achievements, invention and innovation achievements of colleges and universities, energy conservation and environmental protection, national employee invention and innovation achievements, youth invention and innovation, and large Health and intangible heritage innovation achievements, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, One Belt One Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition, Comprehensive and other special exhibition areas, attracted more than 800 enterprises, universities and research institutes from all over the country to participated in the exhibition.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Yu Huarong, vice chairman and secretary general of the China Association of inventions. Yu Huarong said that this year is the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, and we must use high-spirited fighting spirit and the spirit of working hard to make new achievements in the new era. Today, we solemnly hold the National Invention Exhibition Competition in Foshan, Guangdong, it is a gift from inventors and scientific and technological innovation workers to the centenary of the founding of the party, it is also an important platform to showcase the latest technological developments and inventions and innovations!
Qi Xuchun, vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, said in his opening speech that invention creates the world and innovation leads the future. On the new journey, it is hoped that the organizers, including the China Association of inventions, will continue to fulfill their original aspirations and assume their missions, and use the national/international invention exhibition as a platform to actively promote high-level technological self-reliance and intellectual property creation and application transformation. Make new contributions to building an innovative country and a world power in science and technology.
Wang Xi, Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province, entrusted by Governor Ma Xingrui, stated in his speech that the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government supports greater efforts to turn the National Invention Exhibition into a first-class innovation platform, and create a first-class invention innovation ecosystem with high-level and high-quality products. Inventing innovation carriers, allowing inventors, scientists, and entrepreneurs to have more abilities and a greater development platform, so that Guangdong has always become a fertile ground for innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity, contribute new forces to building an innovative country and building a new development pattern!
Academician Wu Zhaohui, chairman of the China Association of inventions and president of Zhejiang University, said in his video speech that he expects all parties to take the opportunity of this exhibition and competition to actively adapt to the changes in inventions and creations in the 21st century and work together to improve the quality of inventions and innovations made by the masses.The first is to strengthen the support of multidisciplinary knowledge for inventions and creations, to jointly focus on the global frontier goals of environmental protection and health, to drive high-quality development with high-level innovations, and to play the unique role of inventions and creations for accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system. The second is to strengthen the coordination of multiple innovation entities to lead the creation, and further unite the advantages of regions along the “Belt and Road” and the BRIC countries to promote the linkage of technological innovation and industrial innovation. The third is to strengthen the renewal of invention and creation by the integration of multiple innovations, and further integrate new research methods, new organizational channels, and new forms of creation into high-tech breakthroughs and key problem solving, and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of methods of assisting invention and creation.
Liu Hua, director of the China Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization, stated in the opening video speech of the exhibition that in the past five years, Foshan has adhered to transformation and upgrading, deeply promoted the transformation and upgrading of the national manufacturing industry, and promoted 25 measures for the development of digital and intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry, and set up a total scale 30 billion yuan, 10 billion yuan in the first phase of the manufacturing transformation and development fund, new industries such as robotics, electronic information, and new energy are thriving. The contribution of scientific and technological innovation to economic development has become more and more obvious. The number of national high-tech enterprises has reached 7,100, ranking 12th in the country, and the scale of industrial technological transformation investment has remained the first in the province for 7 consecutive years. Foshan's GDP in 2020 reached 1081.647 billion yuan, and R&D accounted for 2.67% of GDP. According to the "Report on China's Urban Competitiveness" issued by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2020, Foshan's comprehensive economic competitiveness ranks 14th in the country.

This exhibition and competition are also a big classroom and a big platform for national inventors and skilled talents from the Belt and Road and BRICS countries to learn from each other. The 4th "Most Popular Invention Stars" online selection activity, launched in September this year, attracted hundreds of people to sign up and accumulated more than 8 million visitors, most of the top 100 inventors came to the site to participate in exhibitions, project roadshows and other activities.
