China Association of Inventions was established in Beijing in 1985, under the joint initiative of 135 people including party and state leaders, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and social activists, and approved by the central government. Participating in the joint initiative were leaders such as Hu Jintao and Ni Zhifu, members of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (now academicians) such as Qian Xuesen, Huang Jiasi, and Wu Heng, as well as inventors such as Wang Chonglun. The fundamental starting point for proposing the establishment of the China Association of Inventions is to promote mass invention and creation activities. Nie Rongzhen pointed out in his congratulatory telegram to the inauguration meeting of the Association, "The establishment of the China Association of Inventions is another important way to promote the development of scientific and technological work."
